I consider myself a pretty healthy person. I try to eat the right things (aside from desserts, cuz restraining myself from them just ain’t right). I exercise. But I have to admit, my dedication goes up and down, depending on how busy my schedule gets.
The crazier things get, the worse my diet, the higher my stress, and the more I get lazy about exercising. I’m not proud of this—usually the best thing to do when your body undergoes stress is to treat it with nutrients and get out the anxiety with a little increased heart rate action. My inclination is to go for the muffins, cupcakes, and ice cream and lie on the couch in a little ball, fretting. Hey, I’m human.
Which is why I want to challenge myself to do better. Sometimes, i just need a goal in front of me (and a deadline) to get motivated. So with the help of BistroMD, I’m going to participate in their health challenge. I’ve decided that my exercise routine is slacking, especially any kind of strength training. This is important to me because arthritis runs in my family, and a big help to suffering joints and healthy lungs and heart are strong muscles. I need biceps, not chicken arms. Same thing with the cellulite—needs to be replaced by toned hamstrings. So, I’m going back to regular yoga and Pilates sessions for the next month and see what happens.
If you feel the need to challenge yourself, especially before the holidays set in and we all seem to go off our routines, join me in BistroMD’s Choose Health Challenge. You can visit their Facebook page to let them know how you plan to start living healthy. In addition to feeling good about yourself, you can win stuff like a week of healthy weightloss meals, an iPad2 (HELLO!), a $500 shopping spree or some good ol’ cash. Now that’s incentive.
And as a special bonus they’re offering my readers, followers, etc. FREE shipping for the first week of meals you order (if you decide to purchase). Use discount code “ChooseHealth” at checkout.
It’s up to you. But I encourage you to challenge yourself with changing some kind of pattern – whether it’s what you eat, how often you exercise, or even to just lay off dating for a while to recharge and renew. Not to get all Oprah on you, but we all do deserve to live our best lives. Really.
