I keep hearing about how dating in L.A. sucks. I don’t think that things are better in other cities, but maybe just different. I have to say, L.A. has a few things going for it. For one, our huge population of singles, and the sheer number of new people moving in EVERY DAY. You can’t say the same for a place like Wasilla, AL (just to point out what we should be grateful for, folks). We have plenty to choose from, and not everyone is the same. The downside is that you have to force yourself to get out there and date. A lot. There’s no way around finding that one person. You have to do the work. So I’ll help out how I can.
For those of you who are single and happen to find yourselves in our fair city of L.A., each week I post a list of singles events around town to get you out there and meeting new people. Whether you have lived in L.A. a while or are new to town, it is always a good thing to expand your social networks (in person as well as online).

A good friend of mine lives out in LA. Her and her man split for a bit and she was thrown back into the dating scene and hated it. Those girls on The Hills seem to always meet jerks too (I know it’s not real, I couldn’t help myself). When I lived in NYC, I took to dating guys from (gasp) New Jersey. It’s not easy in big cities. Every guy is trying to find the next best, hottest thing.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, I’ve heard that a lot—guys AND girls here are always looking for something better. I wouldn’t say that’s just the guys. This compulsion comes with the sheer amount of prettiness on every street corner. The thing is, people of substance aren’t after all that. You have to go through a lot of dates to find them, but they exist here in L.A. My friends in other cities have similar experiences about guys not calling them, etc., so I can’t blame everything on L.A…
