Ok folks, full disclosure. I really enjoy baking. I mean REALLY enjoy baking. I went a little overboard for the holidays, as it’s the perfect time to excuse yourself for making loads of cookies, pies, and…more pies. At least, I did. There was the pumpkin pie, the chocolate mousse pie, the apple crumb pie…remember the movie “The Waitress?” Let’s just say it was hard for me to watch on an empty stomach. Pies.
Needless to say, I let myself go a little over the holidays. There were too many temptations. But I thought to myself, come January 1st, it’s a whole new year to set things right. I would eat healthy—lots of leafy greens and all that. Vegetables and fruits. Stuff the celebrities and athletes eat to keep their bodies in prime condition. The problem? I’m not really motivated to cook things that are healthy for me. It’s not as much fun, and it seems like a lot of work at the end of a stressful day. I’d rather have a couple of glasses of wine and scrounge around in the fridge for cheese and crackers. If only there was some magical elf that would bake three healthy meals for me each day, so I wouldn’t have to stress and wonder what to do—how many nutrients and calories I’d be putting in my body. If only…
Well, in the New Year my prayers were answered. No, there’s no little elf. But I do have three healthy, fresh meals delivered to me every day! Fresh Diet has offered me a one-week FREE trial and I’m testing out the program. Seriously, it’s like ask and you shall receive.
I went online to order my food. Fresh Diet made it really easy—they give you several choices for each of your three meals, plus one dessert and one snack per day. They even show pictures so you know what you’re getting. You just sign in, choose, and sit back and wait for your food to be delivered.
Here are some pictures to whet your appetite – remember, the average weight loss on Fresh Diet’s plan is 1-3 lbs per week…
(did I mention no cooking and no clean-up?).
I’ll say this: if you’re single, busy and working late, the last thing you want to do is figure out a healthy meal to cook when you come home. More likely, you’ll go out for some wine or cocktails with your colleagues and end up eating bar food, telling yourself you’ll skip dinner so you won’t consume so many calories. (This is what I did, at least.) It’s especially hard to make yourself healthy meals when you don’t have that special someone in your life to hide your “popcorn and vodka for dinner” habit from – someone who nags you to take care of yourself. Pretty soon you’ll see and feel the wear and tear this takes on your body—zapping you of energy. But the thing is, you’re responsible for your own health – nobody else. It’s a very empowering thing. So if you’re too busy to eat healthy, Fresh Diet’s food delivery is a good, economical option.
To prepare for my experience with a week of Fresh Diet meals, I did some due diligence in ridding my kitchen of all temptations. I’m a practical person, and I know my weaknesses. I threw out all the leftover cookies, candy, and pie (sorry it sounds wasteful, but trust me…I didn’t want them sitting here starting at me. There wasn’t another option).
And now, I’ve received my first official meal from Fresh Diet! Stay tuned for my culinary experiences. So far, the breakfast (granola, yogurt, and fresh fruit) was delicious. Especially the granola. And what was amazing to me was–it actually stays fresh, even through delivery. Their chefs make the meals every day.
