It’s my favorite time of year, and not because of all the sexy/ho costumes, but because everyone can transform themselves, even if it’s just for one night.
I also love it because I get these great pieces of news in my inbox, like this one from dating site POF. They surveyed 2,000 men and women from the site to ask them – not only what they planned to wear, but which costumes they are most likely to hit on this Halloween night…
Love. it.
We suspected with all the sexy costumes guys would likely go for the twerking, tongue-happy Miley Cyrus types (and they did—25% would be up for hitting on a woman clad in her wrecking ball or foam finger attire), while only 20% would hit on the Kate Middleton types. Too classy for Halloween. And women still like their superheros, guys (not the sexy dangerous appeal of a Breaking Bad character) – 24.5% said they’d go on a date with Batman. But a good 23% are more interested in meeting Jay Gatsby.
Hmm.
So how are people really dressing for Halloween?
It turns out men have caught on to the superhero thing and want to work it. Thirty-two percent said they’d be dressing up as Batman, while only 14% will be Breaking Bad’s Walter White. Good show, but probably not the best idea for a costume. No report on how many want to dress as Kate Middleton, but 22% are more than happy to dress as the sexy Beyonce compared to only 15.6% who are putting on their prison scrubs to go as Piper Chapman from Orange is the New Black.
I guess my honey and I are too predictable and would never get hit on for Halloween night. But can I tell you how comfy it was to dress up as Alex Vause in scrubs and Converse? I might just pick a different OITNB character each year. Too bad Breaking Bad is over. His Walter costume will have to be a one-off.
Interestingly, many singles head out of town for Halloween, hoping to meet someone new underneath all of that sexy costume business. Miss Travel (love her blog) did a survey of 14,000 people headed out of town for a Halloween adventure, and found the #1 spot isn’t Vegas, but New Orleans. Check out the whole list here.
Happy Halloween!!
