Hi again,
I recently interviewed Julie Paiva, CEO of Table For Six, a high-end matchmaking service in California. The idea of her service intrigued me—group dates! Instead of personalized matchmaking (that comes later), she pairs up 3 men and 3 women to dine together, taking the pressure off the 1 on 1 dates and seeing what people are “really” like on a date. The theory is, with the pressure off of trying to impress 1 person, you tend to act more like yourself. Or maybe you are an overachiever and you try to impress all 3 of your dinner dates (hopefully without pissing off the other 2 guests).
Sounds great, but then the price leaves a little sting…$2500 just to sign up. Although I’ve probably paid that with all of the online dating I’ve done (kind of a depressing thought).
Have any of you tried pricey dating services? Have they worked out for you?

You would think that quality would go up but it doesn’t neccessarily. The majority of people who join the service are frustrated with it and feel that the company has breached their contract with them. I was sent on a date with a guy who appeared to have a genetic disorder which, through he was 5’4″ he would have been taller if not for the disorder. Real drag socially speaking.
Don’t bother joining if you are female unless you are in your 20s or 30s and totally hot. But that doesn’t guarantee anything. I’ve been hit on by a number of men who offered things I felt I had to refuse.

Hi Savvy D., thanks for the heads-up. I read mixed reviews online, but it always helps to hear directly from people who’ve done it. Did the guys proposition you? I just hesitate on spending that much to get a date…I mean, you need to REALLY like the candidates, no?
