I’m very happy to share a guest post by the illustrious manager of Singles Warehouse, a popular dating site based in the UK. He’s a trip – full of enthusiasm and excitement about online dating, relationships, and sharing stories, and has a few good ones himself. I’m very pleased to announce that he’s agreed to share one with us today – exclusively here at my blog! Thanks Jonathan!
Hi everyone. First, I’ll just say how excited I am to be writing a gust post for Kelly. It’s not often I take the time to write guest posts actually and that’s a shame. I love writing. I’m not the best at it but I do enjoy doing it. We’ve all got so many weird and wonderful stories from the dating trenches that actually most singles should be able to go on and on for hours.
I’d like to tell you about a time in my youth. (For the record I’m not that old now by the way!) I was dating a girl who for the purpose of this blog shall be called Claire. A 5ft 4, blonde 20 year old lady who was simply stunning. We’d met online long before Singles Warehouse had even been thought of. She made me laugh and always left me wanting more. Let’s face it that’s a good sign. We’d only been out a couple of times but things were going really well.
We were due to meet on a Friday evening for some drinks. Nothing too heavy, just a quick meeting after work that evening. You see it was her birthday on the following Monday and we’d agreed to spend some time together then. However, all those wonderful feelings I had were torn down when Claire told me that her ‘childhood’ sweetheart had reappeared in her life and she wanted to
find out where it would go.
I left Claire at the train station and went home…
I’m not sure how all this happened from here on in but somehow over the weekend we agreed that Monday’s plans were still on but she needed to leave early to meet her ‘sweetheart’ for dinner. Stupidly I said yes and we met on the Monday like we’d planned. Before the evening started I ‘d asked Claire what train she needed to be on to make sure that she got home OK.
Her response was 7pm.
So we had a drink and when 6:30 came I told her that we should make a move.
“Just another one,” she insisted. “It is my birthday after all.”
7pm – “You are going to be late,” I said.
“Oh come on – I’ll just say the trains were delayed.” At which point Claire sat next to me, kissed me and told me that she didn’t want to leave. After accepting that we were only good friends it’s fair to say I was confused.
So did she make it home for dinner? Three days later – yes! We physically didn’t leave each other for three days. At the end Claire told me she’d see me the following day, but never came back. Needless to say, I was confused.
And I never heard from her again…. We’ve all been in the dating trenches but remember to fight the good fight, it’s worth it in the end. (Not everyone’s a Claire, after all.)
