Feminism is still considered a dirty word. It conjures images of women burning bras, disparaging men, and God forbid, climbing the career ladder and being “aggressive” in the workplace.
But these images aren’t reflective of feminism today. It’s more friendly and inclusive. It’s all about equality between the sexes.
Women want a right to equal pay, equal treatment, and the same rights and privileges that men get. Including in the bedroom.
A recent study by online dating site Match shed some light on how feminism is helping shape today’s dating culture, and it’s good news. The overwhelming majority of both men and women are pro-feminist, and the guys like it when a woman takes charge and asks him out or makes the first move.
Ladies, I’m not suggesting that d*ck pics are a thing of the past, or that trolling in online dating will cease tomorrow. I know that women are scrutinized way more than men when it comes to relationship status. There was even a recent SNL skit about this. BUT, this is a reaction to the shifting role of men and women when it comes to romantic relationships. Things are changing.
Now, men are overwhelmingly supportive of women asking them out and making the first move. It’s time for women to take control.
I’m thrilled to share that I wrote about this important subject for Digital Romance, and you can read the article here.
Ladies, it’s time to state your needs, and be upfront from the start about what you want. That’s sexy.
XO,
Kelly
