Other deals…
If you live in L.A. and are reading this post, you’re in luck. I know every once in a while during the holiday season you want to forget about the lights and shopping and curl up somewhere with a cocktail in your hands. Preferably one that doesn’t cost $20 – after all, we are here in L.A.
You’re in luck. With the help of folks over at Thrillist and L.A. Eater (plus some insider knowledge), I’ve put together a list of the top 5 happy hours you should check out. Now of course you can go to places with a happy hour menu of wings and fries and $3 beers and well drinks, but to get discounted specialty cocktails and mouth-watering food, or even happy hours twice in one night is a whole other story. Some to try:
Waterloo & City – If you’re in Culver City, this is a gastro-gem. Their happy hour offers $6 cheese plates, $8 pizzas, and $6 salads if you’re dieting. They also have a “pubtails” menu with $5 wines and $7 cocktails like “Dark and Stormy” with ginger beer and a margarita of the day.
Scarpetta Beverly Hills – This upscale spot in the Montage Hotel offers a good deal for those getting off work a little early. They have $4 beers, $8 cocktails, and fancy dishes like lobster croquets for $8 from 4-8pm. If you want a delectable and posh experience for a fraction of the normal price, this is your place.
Fig Santa Monica – If you don’t know about this happy hour, you should. Every day from 5-6pm (make sure you hit this window), everything on the menu except for steaks are half off, including drinks. Seriously. If you want the luxe of a great and ritzy restaurant near the beach but at a price friendlier to your pocketbook, this is it.
Picca Peruvian Cantina – for some reason, Peruvian fusion has become the thing lately in L.A. And with that comes AMAZING cocktails. Seriously, I can’t get enough Pisco Sours in my lifetime. Anyway, the mixologist puts together a daily cocktail hour from 6-7pm where he mixes four new drinks he’s conceived for the low price of $8 or $9, a steal for specialty cocktails in L.A. Plus, you probably won’t taste them anywhere else.
Birds in Hollywood – Ok, I should venture away from the Westside. The cool thing about Birds is not just it’s history, low-key vibe, or its view of the Church of Scientology Celebrity Center – but it’s double happy hour. That’s right, it happens twice a night with half-price drinks, first from 4-6pm and then again at 11pm. That’s some holiday cheer.
